Pentecost is held fifty days after the feast of the pass over. The Jews celebrate the feast of the harvest and the twelve apostles meet together. Before Jesus left he told his disciples to remain in Jerusalem and wait for the promise of the gifts of the Holy Ghost.
They gathered in a room and in Acts 2:2-4 it says, "there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind...and there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as fire, and it sat upon each of them and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost and began to speak with other tongues as the Spirit gave them utterance"
Peter taught everyone to repent and be baptize for the remission of sins and receive the Holy Ghost. This is the day that the Lord sent the Holy Ghost to be with man until he comes again.
